Position Overview
Raymour & Flanigan's Application Development Team is looking for someone who is a positive influence and can provide technical leadership, expertise and guidance in an effort to continue the team's role of excellence. The person is an expert in the Oracle database development technology and will help with solution architecture and code design decisions. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
* Coordinate with business analysts, developers, and management in the design, architecture, and modification of current and development of new features and applications.
* Lead the technical design, development, testing and implementation of standard development procedures and techniques that support the requirements defined by users and analysts. Ensure that standards for database performance, availability and security are being met.
* Translate and document customer requirements, recommend system solutions, and formulate detailed specifications from which enterprise applications are developed.
* Implement solutions following the Software Development Lifecycle (SLDC), including requirements analysis, design, specifications, development, change management, testing and deployment activities
* Lead and participate in the conceptual phases of identifying and solving business problems and initiatives
* Explores, examines and interprets large volumes of data in various forms and recommends additional sources and methods for improvements.
* Work with business departmental teams to help define and document business requirements for new metrics and reports.
* Conduct code reviews on time and ensure adherence to best practices and development standards
* Delegate tasks, follow-up on deliverables, detect and report slippage
* Design, develop, and maintain applications, reports and data structures needed for line of business applications in an Oracle environment.
* Provide full technical documentation of analysis, design, development, and testing as well as any user documentation as required.

Required Skills and Experience
* Eight (8) years of relevant experience with Oracle database application development working on large scale applications; data warehouse experience is a plus.
* Ability to read, understand and translate complex and highly detailed user requirements into accurate application specifications; ability to research and initiate new technology, develop own learning strategy and applying/adapting new knowledge to different/changing situations; ability to lead team efforts and teach others new skills through demonstrated written and verbal competence in presenting ideas and concepts.
* Commanding knowledge and experience writing advanced SQL queries, PL/SQL stored procedures, functions & packages
* Thorough understanding of relational databases
* Ability to document concise design, development, and testing processes for assigned projects
* Ability to help create and map business needs/application requirements to technical solutions
* Good understanding of data modeling and data processing techniques
* Exceptional analytical and debugging skills
* Excellent communication and documentation skills
* Must be a team player and be able to communicate well with the IT team and stakeholders
* Proficiency using TOAD or equivalent developer tools
* Experience using source control applications such as Perforce
* UNIX experience

Helpful Skills and Experience
* Experience with OLTP and Big Data/Warehouse approaches, integration, and implementation
* Data Warehouse design and development, SSIS, and SSRS experience is a plus
* Willing to "cross-train" between Oracle and SQL Server application development technologies.
* Java, Perl programming, and Microsoft SQL/T-SQL experience
